COMMUNICATION
COACHING
for people who feel they’d achieve so much more in life if they weren’t held back by their communication
What is Communication Coaching?
Communication Coaching with TalkCoach is a flexible, collaborative, conversational approach to confident & authentic communication
Do you sometimes feel you can’t express yourself the way you want to?
Perhaps you hold back, worry about saying the wrong thing, or find yourself going over conversations in your head afterwards. You might slip into people-pleasing, struggle to be assertive, or notice the same communication breakdowns repeating without knowing why.
Communication Coaching helps you understand and reshape the way you communicate, so it feels clear, natural, and aligned with who you are - whether in social settings, relationships, or the workplace.
Unlike ‘Communication Training’ programmes, Communication Coaching is conversational, flexible and tailored to your needs.
Instead of focusing on rigid techniques, we explore what’s underneath your communication challenges and find ways to help you feel more connected, authentic, and at ease in conversations - creating genuine, lasting change.
Meet the TalkCoach Communication Coaching team
Our Communication Coaching service was developed by TalkCoach’s founder, Kezia. What began as Kezia’s one-to-one work has now grown into a team approach.
All our coaches are supported by Kezia and draw on shared frameworks and resources. At the same time, each coach brings their own skills, experience and style.
Whoever you work with, you can expect the same foundations of our approach…
Self-awareness before strategy
Understanding why communication feels difficult before jumping into techniques
Values-driven communication
Aligning how you express yourself with who you are and what matters to you
Authenticity over performance
Moving away from striving for “perfect” communication and towards real, meaningful connection
Confidence and self-trust
Building inner confidence rather than relying on external validation

WHO IS COMMUNICATION COACHING FOR?
Communication Coaching tends to fall into one or more of these three areas, but you don’t need to fit neatly into a category.
It doesn’t matter whether you relate to one, all three, or aren’t sure where you fit - coaching is always tailored to your unique needs and communication goals.
Communication Coaching for social anxiety, reduced confidence and overthinking
Build confidence, reduce self-doubt, and express yourself clearly without overthinking or second-guessing every word.
Communication Coaching for improving relationships and building connection with others
Express yourself clearly, set boundaries without guilt, and understand different communication styles to build more meaningful connections in personal and professional relationships.
Neurodivergent Communication Coaching (ADHD & Autism)
Explore how to communicate in a way that works for your brain, energy and personal values, while supporting executive function, emotional regulation, and feeling more at ease in conversations.
Communication Coaching for social anxiety, reduced confidence and overthinking
Is this you?
👉 You find yourself holding back in conversations, worried about saying the wrong thing
👉 You replay social interactions over and over in your head, second-guessing everything you said
👉 You feel anxious in certain situations, like meeting new people or speaking up in work meetings - leaving you feeling tongue-tied or like your mind has gone blank
👉 You wish you were more confident in your communication so that it stops holding you back in work, friendships, relationships and social situations
The problem isn’t that you’re ‘bad at communication.’
The real issue is that overthinking, self-doubt and anxiety are making communication feel harder than it needs to be.
For many people, this leads to avoidance - staying quiet, turning down social invitations, or opting out of speaking opportunities.
But the more we avoid, the harder communication feels.
Coaching helps you break out of this cycle, so that conversations feel easier and enjoyable.
Communication Coaching helps you…
Reduce overthinking and social anxiety - so you can focus on the conversation instead of getting stuck in your head.
Develop self-trust and let go of self-criticism - so you stop second-guessing yourself and start feeling at ease when you speak.
Build confidence from the inside-out for lasting change- rather than ineffective ‘quick fixes’ or surface-level techniques.
The goal isn’t to turn you into someone else - it’s to help you feel like the best, most authentic version of yourself in conversations.
-
Communication Coaching is tailored to you and your unique goals, but is likely to include aspects of the following approaches:
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) → Helps you stop avoiding social situations and build communication confidence through taking action, in a way that aligns with your values.
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) → Helps reframe the inner critical voice that fuels often fuels communication-related anxiety.
Mindfulness and Nervous System Regulation Techniques → Helps you stay present in conversations rather than getting lost in overthinking and over-analysis; helps manage physical symptoms of anxiety (heart racing, voice shaking) so you can feel more at ease.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Strategies → Helps reframe anxious thoughts and unhelpful beliefs about communication.
Communication Coaching for improving relationships and building connection with others
Is this you?
👉 You feel like people misunderstand you, or that conversations rarely go how you intended
👉 You find yourself too often in communication breakdowns, conflicts, or ineffective work interactions and don’t know why
👉 Maybe you hold back too much - avoiding difficult conversations, struggling to speak up and share what you really think, or falling into people-pleasing patterns to keep the peace - but leaving you feeling unheard.
👉 Or maybe you come across too direct or blunt - meaning others misunderstand your intentions
Our communication styles are shaped by many factors - whether differences in neurotypes (e.g., autism, ADHD), personality (including extraversion/introversion), cultural and family backgrounds, anxiety, trauma and emotional triggers.
Coaching helps you understand the patterns in your interactions so you can communicate in a way that aligns with who you are - while strengthening your connections with others.
Communication Coaching helps you…
Coaching helps you develop assertiveness, improve relationships, and communicate with more clarity and confidence—without falling into people-pleasing patterns or feeling like you need to change who you are.
Recognise your communication habits & triggers – Understand why certain conversations feel difficult and identify the patterns that may be contributing to breakdowns or misunderstandings.
Navigate different communication styles – Bridge gaps in workplace or relationship dynamics, understanding how differences in communication styles may be shaping interactions.
Express yourself assertively & set boundaries with confidence – Say what you mean clearly, without guilt, over-explaining, or fear of conflict—while breaking free from people-pleasing patterns that leave you feeling unheard.
Improve emotional regulation in conversations – Stay grounded and in control rather than reacting impulsively, becoming overwhelmed, or shutting down.
Use mindful communication & active listening techniques – Show empathy, build trust, and foster stronger connections while still holding your own boundaries.
-
Communication Coaching is tailored to you and your unique goals, but is likely to include aspects of the following approaches:
Transactional Analysis (TA) → Helps you understand communication styles and how past experiences shape the way you relate to others.
Nonviolent Communication (NVC) → Supports you in expressing your thoughts and needs clearly while staying open to the other person’s perspective.
Mindful Communication & Active Listening → Helps you stay present in conversations, recognise emotional responses, and show others they are heard.
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) → Guides you to communicate in a way that aligns with your values rather than reacting out of habit or emotion.
Nervous System Regulation Techniques → Helps you manage emotional overwhelm and stay calm in difficult conversations.
Neurodivergent Communication Coaching
(ADHD and Autism Communication Coaching)
Communication can feel more challenging, exhausting or confusing if you are neurodivergent (i.e. Autistic or ADHD), or suspect you might be.
Autism and ADHD can bring unique difficulties to communication including executive functioning challenges, sensory overload and different ways of processing conversations.
👉 Perhaps you’ve learned to mask in conversations, trying to fit into expected norms - but it leaves you feeling drained and inauthentic.
👉 Maybe you worry about how others perceive you, suffering with social anxiety, replaying interactions in your mind and questioning whether you said the right thing.
👉 You may find yourself struggling with the flow of conversations - either losing track of what’s being said or talking too much, oversharing, and later regretting it.
👉 Or perhaps you’ve received feedback that you come across as blunt, overly direct, or disengaged, when that’s not been your intention.
Coaching isn’t about making you communicate like someone you’re not.
It’s about helping you understand yourself and communicate in a way that feels natural, sustainable, and aligned with who you are.
-
ADHD Communication Coaching and Autism Communication Coaching supports you in understanding and navigating communication in a way that aligns with your brain, energy, and values.
Rather than teaching ‘neurotypical’ social skills, we focus on helping you develop self-trust and express yourself in a way that feels authentic and sustainable.
This often includes:
Understanding your communication style & what contributes to challenges → Exploring how executive function, sensory processing, emotional regulation, and past experiences shape the way you communicate.
Supporting executive function in communication → Exploring strategies to support symptoms such as interrupting, losing track of conversations, struggling to organise thoughts, or feeling overloaded in fast-paced discussions.
Managing rejection sensitivity (RSD) & social anxiety → Learning how to handle emotional responses to feedback, misunderstandings, or perceived rejection without spiralling into self-doubt.
Shaping communication in a values-aligned way → Ensuring that how you communicate supports your energy, boundaries, and well-being rather than forcing yourself into unnatural patterns.
-
If you want to explore identity, masking, emotional regulation, and confidence beyond structured techniques, Communication Coaching may be the best fit. Coaching takes a conversational, exploratory approach, helping you build self-trust, navigate rejection sensitivity (RSD), and develop communication confidence in a way that feels authentic to you.
However, if you're looking for more structured strategies to improve fluency, organising thoughts, processing language, or understanding social cues, Speech & Language Therapy (SLT) may be more suitable. SLT provides practical techniques to enhance communication in social and professional settings and may include assessments to explore your strengths and challenges. Learn more about Speech & Language Therapy here.
Whichever service you choose, we work in a neurodiversity-affirming way - helping you understand your communication strengths, challenges, and patterns so you can express yourself in a way that feels natural and aligned.
-
No - while a diagnosis can provide clarity, it is not necessary to benefit from coaching or Speech and Language Therapy.
Whether through Speech & Language Therapy or Communication Coaching, we work in a neurodiversity-affirming way - helping you understand your strengths, challenges, and communication patterns so you can express yourself in a way that feels natural and aligned with your identity.
