Join the TalkCoach Team

Associate Speech and Language Therapist

TalkCoach is expanding!

We are looking for an experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join TalkCoach as an Associate, supporting our growing and varied caseload.

Our Speech and Language Therapy service at TalkCoach supports adults and young people with a wide range of communication needs.

About the role

This is a flexible, subcontractor role suited to someone who enjoys working independently, while also being part of a supportive, values-led team.

We are particularly keen to hear from SLTs who can support in one or more of the following areas:

  • Neurorehabilitation - including stroke, cognitive communication disorder

  • Neurodivergent communication, including ADHD and autism

  • Voice

  • Stammering

  • Communication confidence, anxiety or communication challenges that are less clearly defined at the point of referral

  • Dysphagia, including care home residents

Whilst we are ideally looking for someone who can offer in-person appointments across Kent as well as online work, we are also open to clinicians offering online-only sessions.

We are open to recruiting more than one associate depending on experience and fit.

This role is initially to support maternity leave cover, with strong potential for ongoing work as referrals continue to increase.

This role is likely to suit you if…

  • You value professional independence, but appreciate having a solid structure to step into

  • You are confident, adaptable and ready to get stuck in

  • You are committed to client-led, neurodiversity-affirming and compassionate care

  • You are clinically proactive, comfortable making independent decisions and managing your own diary, whilst working in line with our processes and policies

  • You are comfortable working across a range of presentations, including less clearly defined cases

You’ll have access to support and supervision, but this is not a highly structured or closely managed role. We are looking for someone with a get-on-with-it attitude - confident, proactive, and able to seek support when needed.

If you are interested in working with ADHD, even if you don’t have a lot of prior experience in this area - you will have access to our comprehensive TalkCoach ADHD Framework alongside the support and supervision needed to build your clinical skills and confidence.

What you can expect as an Associate SLT at TalkCoach

This is an associate (subcontractor) role that’s designed to be flexible - something that fits around other work or commitments. However it is unlikely to provide you with a consistent full-time income.

  • You’ll submit monthly invoices for any sessions delivered.

  • Payment starts at £75 for 1-hour initial sessions and £50 for 1-hour follow-up sessions

  • Additional admin time is billable for certain client referral sources, reimbursed at £50ph

  • Travel is reimbursed for in-person appointments

  • Experience and/or training in working with neurodivergent clients (or personal/family experience of neurodivergence)

  • Dysphagia trained and confident working with swallowing difficulties in the community

How our current Associates describe working at TalkCoach

Even though everyone is based in different locations, the team stays well-connected and responsive, which makes a big difference day to day.

The supervision structure is clear and dependable, and it always feels like there’s someone you can reach out to if you need advice or a second opinion.

There’s also access to a wide range of online therapy resources and handouts, which have been really helpful in practice.

Processes are well established and easy to follow, so moving into working with private clients within TalkCoach felt straightforward rather than overwhelming.

Overall, it’s a friendly team with good morale and a supportive place to work.

I really value how being an Associate at TalkCoach allows me to work flexibly and autonomously. I can choose when and how I work, as well as my caseload.

Being new to private SLT work, I love that it allows me to work independently, but as part of a very experienced and supportive team, rather than going it alone!

I'm also learning so much at TalkCoach, which is allowing me to safely start working with new client groups, with the support of an experienced supervisor.

Working with TalkCoach has been such a great opportunity for me, and I'm really grateful to Kezia for welcoming me into the team”
